Rochdale in the Past. The first Co-operative store in Rochdale on Toad Lane in 1844.
The Rochdale Pioneers, the founders of the world-wide Co-Operative shop on Toad Lane in 1844.
Using the Touchstones Loan Box, the children used the artefacts to find out about Rochdale in the past. We used the Victorian objects to help recreate a co-operative store. The box included – costume, weighing scales, butter pats and co-operative dividend tokens.
