Sandbrook Against Racism Art Competition16 June 2020 (by admin) |
Following the global protest to suppport the Black Lives matter movement, after the tragic death
of George Floyd in America, we wanted to do something at Sandbrook to show our support.
If anything postive can come from the terrible situation in America, it is that we should all have
open and honest converstaions with our children, in an age appropriate way, about racism. As a
school in a multi cultural area , it is our responsibility to ensure that children of all races recognise
the existence of white privilege and challenge this at all times.
Our competition is open to all the family and provides an opportunity to create art work, while
discussing and learning about anti-racism, culture and diversity. We hope that the
competition will prompt interesting, insightful and impassioned learning conversations in
many homes across our school community, as families get together to create thought
provoking pieces of art work.
